Glenfall Pre-school floor toys

The group was started in September 1990 when it was felt that pre-school education was needed this side of the A40. Originally we used a classroom but as numbers increased in the school this was no longer an option. The school kitchen was only being used as a servery, so here was our new home. It was a mammoth task to transform the kitchen, complete with cookers and marble slabs, into the pre-school we have enjoyed until March 2004, when we were allocated a large sum of money by Early Years Seed Funding Challenge to upgrade the pre-school facilities to the cozy home we now enjoy.

Close links are maintained with Glenfall School and many of its extensive facilities are utilised. We have a shed in the playground full of scooters, tricycles, cars, prams  etc. We also use the school’s adventure playground as well as the playing field, complete with outdoor theatre and magic path! We have a weekly slot in the hall when we can use all P.E equipment.

We are a small, friendly group and we get to know each other very well: some firm friendships are made, between both the children and the parents.

The Garden

pre-school education - the garden

This is our latest project; we try to make as much use of our outside area as the weather will allow: all the big messy play that we can't do indoors!

Recently though, we've managed to secure funding to build some permanent structures, including a wooden "fort" and "magic" path leading to a willow play structure which will enhance our children's outdoor learning environment.
